FIGHT YOUR STAGE FEAR AND ANXIETY

Remember the time you had to be on the stage to deliver a speech, act in a play or sing a song? Everything gave you panic attacks due to the thoughts of how things would turn out. Will people appreciate it? Or would they just fuss around complaining about how you looked, how your voice wasn't that loud enough or how your friend obviously did better than you? These thoughts give panic before and even after your performance. So, knowing how to deal with these have a lot of importance.
Here I list some of the life-saving methods I apply to fight the fear I face every time I am about to step on the stage.
  1. What are you thinking?
What you think before you are going to give your presentation matters the most here. Are you thinking about how your teachers and friends will think about you after you are done? Or will you win the thing or not? Thinking about the consequences of your action can make your day or break your day. In this situation, thinking about the consequences should rather be avoided. Think about the chance you have that can change your image in front of others. Think about 'now', instead of 'then'. Think about giving the best presentation of your life rather that how this presentation would turn out.
     2. Breathe.

If the panic is being way too much to handle, stand and start having a stroll. Have long breathe ins and breathe outs while you are moving. Avoid drinking water, or drinking too much water as it proves to increase the panic.

     3.  Sing a song.
Make sure this is not loud. Sing raps or pop songs which would increase your pulse rate. You will feel ready and the tension would be increased. This would make you feel light and happy and will hence, improve the way you perform.

     4. Cry!

This will sound absurd to you, but believe me, crying a bit would decrease your panic. Don't cry your heart out, but make sure you feel those emotions while you cry.

Some more things that I want to tell you is that the feeling of nausea is normal. You might feel like puking but that only happens because you are hungry! So make sure you have some light food before your presentation.
